Homeowner in Alcona had been fighting hard-water scale on every fixture for years. We tested the supply at 18 grains per gallon — moderately hard. Sized and installed a Kinetico twin-tank, plumbed in a soft/hard split so the outdoor taps stay hard, and relocated the brine tank for easier salt loading. Three hours start to finish. They messaged us a week later about how much softer the laundry felt.

Older home off Holland Street had a 1980s-era cast-iron sump pump that was making concerning noises. Replaced it with a Zoeller M53 plus a battery-backup unit for peace of mind during power outages. Also added a check valve and ran the discharge to a freeze-resistant outlet 6 feet from the foundation.

Customer near Lovers Creek wanted protection after a neighbour's basement flooded the year before. Pulled the City of Barrie permit, broke into the basement floor, installed a Mainline backwater valve with a clean-out access, and tied it back into the existing sanitary. Inspection passed first time.

Frozen supply line at a Lake Simcoe cottage

Cottage owner discovered no water on a winter visit. The exterior wall supply to the kitchen had frozen solid. We thawed the line carefully (no torches near insulation), checked for cracks (none), and added foam insulation and a heat trace cable to prevent recurrence. Walked through the winterization process with the owner for next season.

Leak detection

Hidden slab leak located without tearing up the floor

Homeowner had a water bill 4x normal and an unexplained warm spot on the basement slab. Pinpointed a pinhole leak in a hot supply line under the concrete using electronic detection — no destructive excavation needed elsewhere. Cut a 30cm × 30cm patch in the slab, repaired with Type-L copper, and the basement was back together by 5pm.

Family was tired of running out of hot water during back-to-back showers. Removed the old 40-gallon tank, ran a new 1-inch gas line per code, installed a Navien NPE-240A2 wall-hung unit, and routed condensate drain to the floor drain. Permit pulled, inspection passed, family delighted.

Kitchen faucet replacement for a busy household

Customer's pull-down spray faucet had given up after eight years. They picked a Moen Arbor in matte black; we swapped it out, replaced the angle stops while we were under there, and tested for leaks. About an hour total. Looks great in their newer kitchen.
