Terms of Service

Last updated: May 15, 2026

These terms govern your use of theplumbingco.ca and the plumbing services we provide. By visiting our website, requesting a quote, or accepting service from The Plumbing Company, you agree to these terms.

About us

The Plumbing Company is a licensed Ontario plumbing service business operating in Simcoe County and surrounding areas. We are fully insured, WSIB compliant, and our work meets the Ontario Building Code.

Quotes and pricing

We provide written quotes before starting any non-emergency work. Quotes are based on the information available at the time of estimate and the scope of work agreed. If hidden conditions are discovered once work begins (for example, additional pipe corrosion behind a wall, or unforeseen access difficulties), we will pause, explain the situation, and provide a revised quote for your approval before continuing. You will never be charged for additional work without your authorization.

Verbal estimates over the phone are approximate and subject to confirmation after on-site assessment. Emergency dispatch fees, after-hours premiums, and travel surcharges (where applicable) are disclosed upfront.

Scheduling and cancellations

Appointments are booked on a first-come, first-served basis. If you need to reschedule or cancel a non-emergency appointment, please give us at least 24 hours' notice so we can offer the time slot to another customer. Same-day cancellations after a technician has been dispatched may incur a service-call charge equal to our standard call-out fee.

Payment terms

Payment is due upon completion of work unless other arrangements have been agreed in writing in advance. We accept cash, e-transfer, debit, and major credit cards. Larger installations may be eligible for financing — ask us about options before work begins. Invoices not paid within 30 days are subject to a 2% monthly late fee.

Workmanship warranty

We stand behind every job. Our workmanship warranty covers the labour portion of our work for one year from the date of completion. If something we installed or repaired fails because of our workmanship within that period, we will return and repair it at no cost to you.

The workmanship warranty does not cover:

  • Damage caused by misuse, accident, normal wear, or modifications by others.
  • Failure of parts or materials covered by a separate manufacturer warranty (we will help you make a warranty claim with the manufacturer).
  • Pre-existing conditions in your plumbing system that we did not service.
  • Issues caused by hard water, sediment, or water quality where a softener or filter was recommended and declined.

Manufacturer warranties

Equipment we install (water heaters, softeners, pumps, fixtures) carries the manufacturer's warranty. Warranty terms vary by manufacturer. We register your equipment under warranty at the time of installation and will help you process warranty claims when needed.

Permits and inspections

Where municipal permits or inspections are required, we obtain them on your behalf and coordinate the inspection process. Permit fees and inspection charges are itemized separately on your quote.

Access and safety

You agree to provide safe, reasonable access to the work area, including pets that should be secured during the visit. If unsafe conditions are encountered (asbestos, mould, electrical hazards, structural concerns), we will pause work and notify you. We may decline to proceed until the safety issue is addressed, which may require a separate trade.

Limitation of liability

Our liability is limited to the cost of the services performed. We carry full liability insurance for damages caused by our negligence. We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or incidental damages including loss of use, lost wages, or property damage beyond the scope of our insurance coverage. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be excluded under Ontario law.

Photography and case studies

We may take before-and-after photographs of our work for portfolio, training, and marketing purposes. We will never publish photographs that identify your property address or personal information without your explicit consent. If you prefer no photographs of your job, let us know at the time of booking.

Disputes

If a concern arises with your service, please contact us first — most issues are resolved with a phone call. If we cannot resolve a dispute directly, the matter is governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, with venue in Simcoe County, Ontario.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms occasionally. The version current at the time of your service applies to that service. The most current version is always posted at this URL.
