Accessibility Statement
The Plumbing Company is committed to making our website and services accessible to everyone, including customers with disabilities. We believe digital experiences should be usable by people with the widest possible range of abilities, devices, and connection speeds.
Our commitment
We design and build theplumbingco.ca with accessibility in mind from the start, working toward conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA as referenced by the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA). Specifically, we work to ensure:
- All content is structured with clear headings so screen readers can navigate it easily.
- Images include descriptive alt text where they convey meaning, and are marked decorative where they do not.
- Colour contrast meets minimum accessibility ratios so text is legible for users with low vision.
- All interactive elements (buttons, links, forms) can be operated by keyboard alone — no mouse required.
- Focus states are clearly visible for users navigating by keyboard.
- Forms have associated labels that screen readers can announce.
- Pages use semantic HTML so assistive technology can correctly interpret the structure.
- The site is fully responsive and works across mobile, tablet, and desktop devices.
Accessibility on our service calls
Accessibility is not just about the website. When we visit your home:
- We accommodate accessible scheduling needs — ask about quieter time slots, longer appointment windows, or specific scheduling requirements.
- We work with mobility aids in the home and around our work area.
- We can communicate in writing if that works better for you. Text-based quotes, invoices, and updates are available.
- We respect service animals and trained support animals in your home.
- We can speak with a designated family member or advocate on your behalf if you prefer.
Known limitations
We test our site regularly, but some content may not yet fully meet our accessibility goals. Known limitations include:
- Embedded video content from third-party services (such as Vimeo) is subject to that provider's accessibility features.
- Embedded booking and form widgets from third-party providers (such as GoHighLevel) are subject to those providers' accessibility implementations.
- PDF documents (where applicable) may not all be fully tagged for screen readers — contact us if you need an accessible version of any document.
